Rental Clerk

We’re in need of a highly motivated individual to join our team of dedicated, hardworking rental professionals. We’re looking for someone who has a positive attitude, good organizational skills, a little mechanical aptitude and knowledge, and strong computer and customer service skills. PURPOSE:

The rental clerk will assist the rental manager in all aspects of the rental business and position Union Farm Rental for growth. The rental clerk should have a solid understanding of how rental sales work including: scheduling, taking reservations, taking payments, checking out equipment, and checking in returned equipment. The ability to interact and take direction from multiple sources, including direct customer interaction, is a must.

  • Ability to conduct customer demonstrations of machinery within 3 (3) months of employment.
  • Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion.
  • Ability to set, adjust, and change daily priorities.
  • Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues most positively for all parties concerned.
  • Ability to identify problems or potential problems at the functional level and make recommendations and/or decisions to resolve them.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a customary and regular basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Answer phone calls and greet rental customers.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships and work with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership’s guidelines.
  • Handle all rental inquiries and match the available equipment to the customer’s needs.
  • Maintain customer contact information and communications utilizing the Company’s CRM software.
  • Prepare and present rental quotes, reservations, and contracts.
  • Receive payments on rentals.
  • Maintain customer rental files in an orderly manner.
  • Coordinate rental deliveries and pickups with the transportation manager.
  • Perform rental check-out and check-in procedures.
  • Learn to operate all rental equipment to review the operation with the rental customer.
  • Assist with loading and unloading rental equipment, which includes using a forklift.
  • Ensure equipment is serviced between rentals.
  • Ensure rentals are ready to rent.
  • Complete routine yard inventories.
  • Promote growth of the rental department by tracking lost sales on an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Comply with the Company’s safety program.
  • Comply with the Company’s uniform code.
  • Will perform other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Clean, valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Professional personal appearance.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
  • Able to work business hours on Saturdays.
  • Willingness to travel within the US and abroad as needed for training.

Pay is determined by experience and there are opportunities for advancement for the right candidate.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to multitask and deal with stress and deadlines. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. Must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders, work on your feet for long periods, bend, kneel, and reach overhead.
